Dear Users,
The Call for Papers for the conference Young People, Farming & Food: The Future of the Agrifood Sector in Africa is now open.
This international conference is being sponsored by the Future Agricultures Consortium (FAC) and the Institute of Statistical Social and Economic Research (ISSER) and will take place 19-21 March 2012 in Accra, Ghana. The conference will critically examine, from both research and policy perspectives:

As I write, the humanitarian crisis in the Horn of Africa continues to worsen. Figures from the UN’s Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) show that the number of people affected by food shortages in Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya and Djibouti has escalated from 10 million to 12.4 million. About 2.3 million of the region's children are acutely malnourished and the UN Children's Fund says more than half a million of them are at risk of death without urgent intervention.
As the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) marks 10 years there is a need to outline the development lessons learnt in the past decade in order to plan better for the future.
