"As we celebrate Women’s Day in South Africa, we recognize the important contribution of women to the struggle, the well-being of their families and in sustaining the economy.
While we can be proud of the significant progress already made, this day also reminds us that much work lies ahead. Sustainable development can only be achieved if there is equality for women and men. However, women everywhere face gender-related constraints that limit their productivity.
It is time to unleash the full potential of women so that they can take their proper place in efforts to achieve a fair and equitable global economy.
As we celebrate Women’s Day this year with our South African colleagues, the NEPAD Agency reaffirms its commitment to promoting gender equality and the advancement of women on the African continent.
