NEPAD BioEnergy Investment Symposium – West Africa Region

The NEPAD is organizing an African Bioenergy Investment Workshop in Dakar, Senegal on the 30th and 31 of August 2012 which is planned to help unlock the investment opportunities in the bioenergy potential of West Africa in particular by raising awareness, stimulating productive public private partnership and adapted financial mechanism.

The overall objective is to encourage the investment in bioenergy by African private sector to improve energy security, increase local clean energy production and use, increase job creation, facilitate technology transfer and mitigate the environmental impact of industrial waste. The workshops are expected to identify and seek to remove impediments to private sector investment in the sector.

Organisation and participants

The Bioenergy Investment Workshop will be held in Dakar, Senegal at Hotel des Almadies on the 30th and 31st of August 2012. Up to 50 participants from financial institutions and bioenergy industry will be welcomed by the NEPAD.
