The NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the post of Finance/ Procurement Officer.

Under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of The Grow Africa programme, the Finance/Procurement Officer will be part of the Finance/Procurement Team of the NEPAD Agency, and provide input in the management and administration of the financial, accounting, budgeting and procurement processes of the Agency.

The major duties and responsibilities of the Finance/Procurement Officer are to support the Chief Operation Officer in accounting, planning / budgeting, procurement and compliance activities for the Grow Africa programme.

Required Skills and Competencies

  1. Excellent knowledge and experience in fund and grant management.

  2. Proven knowledge of policy analysis and development and programme and/or project management and implementation.

  3. Proven result based monitoring and evaluation (M&E) experience.

  4. Knowledge on socio-economic development challenges (poverty, inequality and unemployment) and related transboundary issues

  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.

  6. Knowledge in Agriculture, Agribusiness and Value Chains

  7. High level of accuracy, attention to detail and thoroughness.

  8. Sound analytical skills and the ability to identify issues, formulate opinions, make conclusions and recommendations in individual and team settings.

  9. Maintain confidentiality at the highest level at all times.

  10. Ability to work under minimal supervision, be proactive, initiative, with empathy and sound judgement.

  11. High level of integrity and accountability, flexible approaches to work coupled with enthusiasm, commitment and energetic.

  12. Ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure with a wide range of individuals and institutions.

  13. Familiar with African Union, NEPAD and experience in international development politics and working with international organizations.

  14. Demonstrate ability to initiate, develop and complete programme of work, assess implications and formulate recommendations.

  15. Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-national environment.

Education and Experience:

Candidates must have a Master’s degree  in  either Public and Development Management, Agriculture/Agribusiness, Social Sciences, Business Management  or a related field with a minimum three (3) years of post-qualification experience or a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Accounting or a related field with a minimum six (6) years of post-qualification experience in public sector institutions or similar organizations nationally, regionally and / or internationally.

Remuneration: Indicative basic salary of US$39,603.00 per annum plus other entitlements e.g. Post Adjustment (57% of basic salary), Housing allowance ($21,196.80 per annum), gratuity (15% of gross salary), medical aid and life and accident insurance in conformity with the rules and procedures applicable to internationally recruited staff of the African Union.
