Building on the outcomes of the 1st Africa Regional Meeting and Bogota High Level Event, the NEPAD Agency and the African Development Bank co-organised the 2nd Regional Meeting on Aid Effectiveness (AE), South-South Cooperation (SSC) and Capacity Development (CD) from 4-5 November 2010 in Tunis. Remarkably, this was the first time that NEPAD and the AfDB, at the highest level, jointly held such an important meeting on major regional issues. The NEPAD CEO, Dr Ibrahim Mayaki led NEPAD team to the Regional Event with the main objective of building consensus on African positions on development effectiveness and preparing for the High Level Forum 4 in Busan, South Korea in 2011.
Through the Tunis event, which attracted over 180 Participants, NEPAD has taken a fundamental step forward in mobilizing countries and stakeholders towards a common and consolidated voice on AE, SSC and CD. The Continent has strongly demonstrated that Development Effectiveness is a paradigm shift required to achieve Africa's development goals. This will help re-shape the overall global development architecture for impact on policy design and implementation.
