This programme monitors progress in implementation of the Abuja Declaration on Fertilizers for an African Green Revolution by countries and RECs and prepares progress reports for the African Heads of State.
What's happening in the programme?
The programme is an ongoing exercise to maintain updated information on progress by African countries in increasing average fertilizer use in order to improve agricultural productivity. To so the programme partners with ministries of agriculture in countries, RECs, AUC/DREA.
The programme's key work includes establishing mechanisms to monitor and evaluate responses to the implementation of the Abuja Declaration and preparing progress reports to be submitted to the African Union, which will report to the African Heads of State on the progress in implementation.
What progress has been made so far?
To date six bi-annual progress reports have been prepared and submitted by the NEPAD Agency to the AUC. Work on the seventh report is currently in progress.
