On 25th May 2015, I and my colleagues at the NEPAD Agency have joined the AU, the entire continent and indeed the Diaspora in celebrating yet another ‘Africa Day’ under the theme: “Women’s Empowerment and Development towards Africa’s Agenda 2063”.
“The Africa Climate-Smart Agriculture Alliance is the first such continental platform following the 2014 Malabo Declaration for mainstreaming climate change in agriculture,” said Mrs Estherine Fotabong at the first Africa CSA Alliance Forum
African countries need to prioritise investment and training in scientific research as a critical factor for economic growth and development, Professor Luke Mumba, Coordinator of NEPAD’s ASTII Initiative said earlier this week.
The African Development Bank (AfDB) and NEPAD Agency are currently reviewing progress made under the joint PIDA Capacity Building Initiative. The programme is supported through a US $8.6 million grant for a period of three years, funded by the AfDB.
HGSF programmes are a win-win for both the children who are attracted to school and learn better, as well as for the local smallholder farmers who produce the food and gain a steady market from the school meal programmes.
