The New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Agency, the Office of the UN Special Adviser on Africa (OSAA), the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the Department of Public Information (DPI) are co-organising a series of activities during “Africa Week” at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, on the margins of the UN General Assembly Debate on Africa
The Week of October 15 to 19 will feature book launches, debates on how to better integrate the Continent through the implementation of the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA). Participants will also deliberate on the implications of the RIO+20 outcomes for NEPAD and their impact on the Post-2015 Millennium Development Goals Agenda.
The NEPAD Agency will also be organising its 2nd Public Lecture at Columbia University in New York. Under the theme “Regional Infrastructure as Catalyst for Sustaining Africa’s Growth and Development”, Dr Ibrahim Mayaki, will deliver a key note presentation in the evening of October 18 to evaluate the success of the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA). The programme is designed to build the infrastructure necessary for a more integrated Continent.
