The NEPAD Spanish Fund and Communaute Economique des Pays des Grands Lacs (CEPGL) have officially handed over a newly built trans-border market facility to women entrepreneurs in the Great Lake Region.
HGSF programmes are a win-win for both the children who are attracted to school and learn better, as well as for the local smallholder farmers who produce the food and gain a steady market from the school meal programmes.
In 2012, the NEPAD Spanish fund selected FIOM Rwanda as one of the projects to be sponsored during the 2nd call of proposal. FIOM is a non-profit organisation established to respond to poverty related challenges in Rwanda.
“Optimal solutions to problems in Africa are not at national but at a regional level, through continental strategic frameworks such as the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Programme,” NEPAD Agency CEO Dr Ibrahim Mayaki said.
