NEPAD Spanish Funds for African Women Empowerment Second Call for proposal

The 6^th Steering Committee of the NEPAD/Spanish Fund for African Women Empowerment was held in Madrid Spain from 28- 29^th February 2012.

The NEPAD Spanish Fund wishes to inform you that the selection process for the 2^nd call for proposals has been completed after a lengthy, rigorous, thorough and competitive process.

In total, 685 applications were from NGOs, CBOs and FBOs, grassroots organizations, academic institutions, parastatal organizations, government institutions and regional economic communities (RECs) across sub-Saharan Africa.

The appraisal process consisted of the following four stages:

Phase 1:

• 1^st screening that checked the submission of all mandatory documents

Phase 2:

• 2^nd screening phase that consisted of technical and financial appraisal
• Award of marks and ranking within each country and language portfolio

Phase 3

• Recommendation of organization based on a combination of factors: marks obtained in technical and financial appraisal, priority of project sector and subsector to the NEPAD/Spanish Fund, project distribution within Regional Economic Community and between government institutions and  non-government institutions.

Phase 4

• Final approval of projects at the 6^th NEPAD/Spanish Fund Steering Committee, which was held in Madrid on 28^th and 29^th February, 2012.

The project manager will follow up on this correspondence to request for documents that must be revised and submitted prior to the disbursement of funds.
