Cultural groups from seven African countries entertained the Heads of State and Governments, the invited guests and delegates in the afternoon of the inauguration of the New AUCC,in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

“Africa is now proclaimed as the most profitable region,” the South African president said at the meeting, as he presented a report on the impelementation of the Presidential Infrastructure Champion Initiative.

Benin Republic President Yayi Boni emerged as the new Chairperson of the African Union. He replaced Equatorial Guinea’s President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo whose one-year tenure has ended.

Ethiopian Prime Minister and chairperson of the NEPAD HSGOC, Mr. Meles Zenawi, has commended the NEPAD Agency for its efforts in facilitating the social-economic development of Africa.

African countries must set very high economic growth targets for themselves in order to get out of poverty, a Senior Adviser to Ethiopia’s Prime Minister said in Addis Ababa today.
