On the 22nd of July 2011 the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NEPAD Agency)’s Education and Training Sector hosted a delegation from the Republic of Congo.

The NEPAD Agency in collaboration with MINRESI organised a training workshop on the collection of STI. The workshop was the first in a series of workshops aimed at developing African capacity to collect and use STI indicators.
The main objective of this mission was to learn more on the success and the challenges encountered by the various institutions in SADC with regard to the implementation of the NEPAD Nursing and Midwifery Education Project in Africa.

The first African Innovation Outlook which captures major issues affecting Science Technology and Innovation, in the continent’s has been launched with a call on leaders to invest more in the sector.
"STI hubs across universities will focus on specialist areas to drive the socio-economic sector and development on the continent", said Mrs Vera Ngosi, Director of the African Union, Human Resource Science and Technology Division.
Launch the second phase of the ASTII Initiative and the African Innovation Outlook Series. The launch is set to take place at the United Nations Conference Centre in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Bio-innovate is based on two NEPAD plans - the Consolidated Plan of Action for Africa's Science and Technology and the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme.
