Equality Now launches the Guide to using the protocol on the rights of women in Africa for legal action on 14th July, 2011 at the Panafrica Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.
The NEPAD/Spanish Fund provided financial and technical support to Equality Now, an international human rights organization based in Nairobi, Kenya, to address and work to rectify the unique and devastating human rights abuses suffered by girls in early adolescence that harm their self esteem, strip them of their human rights and deny them present and future access to legal protection, social entitlements and economic opportunity; and develop a legal handbook which will (i) influence national policies in support of the human rights of African women and adolescent girls through legal intervention and (ii) to lobby countries on how they can ratify the African Protocol on Rights of Women.
