Developing Africa’s Response to Sustainable Energy for All
Sep 12 2012 - Sep 21 2012, Nai, Kenya
As part of the APDev knowledge exchange series, the technical meeting will consider steps toward coordinated implementation of the energy priorities within the framework of the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) as adopted by the January 2012 18th African Union Summit. Specifically, the meeting will review actions being taken on energy access, efficiency and use of renewable energy.
Notably, the Experts Meeting seeks to initiate the development of an institutional framework and programme response to the UN Secretary General’s intiative on Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) by 2030. Further, the workshop will examine concrete actions by Africa towards realising the three critical objectives of the initiative: a) universal access to modern energy services; b) doubling the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix; and c) doubling the global rate of energy efficiency.
