The NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NEPAD Agency) wishes to announce vacancies for various positions at its office in Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa and its Regional Missions at various duty stations.
Vacancies:
The Agency hereby invites applicants who are citizens of African Union Member States for the following positions in its new organizational structure:
Job Title: Finance Officer.
Position Level: P1
Duty Station: African Biosafety Network of Expertise (ABNE), Ouagadougou.
Supervisor: Director, African Biosafety Network of Expertise (ABNE).
Under the supervision of the Director of the African Biosafety Network of Expertise (ABNE) or his/her delegate, the Finance Officer will provide support to the Director of the African Biosafety Network of Expertise (ABNE) or his/her delegate and other professional staff for programme finance, logistic, and administrative duties within the sector/unit. Specifically, the incumbent will:
- Maintain accurate financial record keeping/filing system for the Finance unit and ensure data integrity by updating data manually and electronically as required.
- Take responsibility for accounts payable and account receivable and ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies.
- Review payment requests to certify that appropriate supporting documents have been provided and the correct project codes have been used in preparation for submission to the donor.
- Review and verify accuracy of information on payment vouchers before submission of cheques for signing.
- Ensure that operational and grant payments are paid on time by processing all cash and bank transactions and wire transfers.
- Assist the Finance Manager in analyzing operational expenditures and maintain accounting spreadsheets in accordance with partner procedures.
- Prepare financial reports for the Unit.
- Verify and ensure the availability of funds before cheques are written.
- Review and compute travel claims and imprest accounts.
- Assist in drafting routine correspondence related to the unit's work.
- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned.
Language requirement: Excellent English and / or French (spoken and written) and fluency in any other AU language would be an added advantage.

Request for expression of interest: Consultancy Services for Administrative Assistant
Project name: PICD / PAF and NFFP

Main responsibility and description of the proposed work
Under the general supervision of the Head of the International Partnership for African Fisheries Governance and Trade (PAF) Programme, the Administrative Assistant will:
- Provide General support to the NEPAD-FAO Fish Programme (NFFP), and also to the PAF Programme.
- Provide administrative and financial support to the PAF and NFFP programme coordinators.
- Liaise with the Fisheries programme coordinators to perform and support the implementation of programme activities
- Assist the NFFP and PAF Programme to maintain cash books for Programme expenditures
- Assist in the planning of various activities and ensure that all activities are performed in accordance with the signed grant agreement as well as any other NFFP activities.
- Ensure up to date filling of all Programme documents.
- Liaise with Management accountant for the approval of invoices and vouchers.
- Coordinate the prompt payment to suppliers, travel agents, etc.
- Assist the NFFP and PAF Programme in the effective, efficient and smooth running of the Programme activities.
- Organise NFFP conferences and meetings [prepare invitation letters; meeting agendas; make hotel & flight reservations; make transport arrangements and liaise with participants]
- Assist PAF & NFFP with the procurement of goods, stationery and services
- Make transport bookings and reservations
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications:
- Minimum Diploma in office Administration or an equivalent to a bachelor degree in management would be an added advantage.
- Three (3) to five (5) years working experience dealing with administrative and management issues and clerical work experience, including at least three (3) years in the field of office administration.
- Excellent working knowledge of computer applications (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
- Some form of specialist training relevant to the position.
Deliverables
The following constitute the deliverables of this assignment:
Weekly reports on all Administrative related activities
Languages
Excellent English and French (spoken and written). Fluency in any other AU language would be an added advantage.
