Addis Ababa, 28th January 2012 – Cultural groups from seven African countries(Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Sahrawi Republic and Sudan)entertained the Heads of State and Governments, the invited guests and delegates in the afternoon of the inauguration of the New African Union Conference Center (AUCC),in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Through their unique traditional dances and colorful cultural clothing these dancersgave alluring performances that captivated the audience. Many of the spectators tookpictures with the performers, some even trying a few steps.
The troup coming from Ghana gave a brilliant performance dealing with the world offishing. Many participants stopped to watch their performance including the Zambian President, Michael Sata. After the inauguration ceremony in the plenary hall of the newAUCC, some other shows went on during the submission of the keys by the Chineseauthorities to the Chairperson of the AU, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo,President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.
The Kwame Nkrumah monument was one of the top attractions during this event full ofemotion and admiration for the one time leader of the revolution and one of the foundingfathers of the Organization of African Unity (OAU).
The statue was inaugurated in the presence of his daughter, Hon. Samia Nkrumah,former President of Ghana Jerry Rawlings as well as Members of the Ghanaiancommunity in Addis Ababa and invited African renown personalities. They all proudlywaved the flag of the Republic of Ghana when the statue was being unveiled in honor ofKwame Nkrumah.
