" [1]The 44th Meeting of the APR Panel of Eminent Persons was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 21 to 23 November 2010, to implement the APR Panel's new vision and roadmap.
The APR Panel instructed the APR Secretariat to undertake a forensic audit of the entire APRM accounts, from inception to date, as approved by the Chairperson of the APR Forum. The process of the procurement of the services of an audit firm has commenced.
The APR Panel will continue to perform its oversight role of the APRM in accordance with the APRM founding principles. To enhance its dynamism, a review of the APRM process is due after 5 years as prescribed by the Base Document (Article 28, NEPAD/HSGIC/03-2003/APRM/MOU/ANNEX II). The Project on Streamlining and Fast-tracking the APRM Process, which is currently underway, is one step in the evaluation exercise that is to be completed through the revision of the Base Document which has currently been overtaken by APRM practices.
At the margins of the 44th APR Panel Meeting, the entire APR Panel met with the APR Focal Points as requested by the Chairperson of the APR Forum, with a view to contributing to the deliberations on the Draft Operating Procedures of the APR Panel. However the APR Panel thought it was better to allow APR Focal Points complete their own internal processes and opted to present their input to the APR Forum during the next Summit.
