" [1]Midrand, South Africa – 12 January 2011. Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia, will sign the APRM Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 29 January 2011, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, at the 14th Forum of Heads of State and Government of member countries of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM).
Liberia has agreed to be reviewed in the areas of Democracy and political governance, Economic governance, Corporate governance and Management, and Socio-political development governance. In this respect, it must undertake to set up national APRM institutions to ensure the efficient conduct of the process.
Apart from the APRM Focal Point, who must occupy a ministerial or other high-level government position, Liberia must set up a national Committee on governance, to formulate the strategic and policy orientation for implementing APRM. This body must be independent of government and include all stakeholders, namely: representatives of the public and private sector, the youth, parliamentarians, women, the handicapped, marginalized groups, rural populations and the judiciary, etc.
Liberia's membership brings the number of APRM countries to 30.
