As the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) marks 10 years there is a need to outline the development lessons learnt in the past decade in order to plan better for the future.
Already, Heads of State who attended the 25th Summit of the Head of State and Government Orientation Committee (HSGOC) marked the 10th Anniversary of NEPAD by calling for renewed focus on the implementation of the established NEPAD programmes and projects.
The session was recently held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, under the theme “mobilizing domestic resources for NEPAD.”
“Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of NEPAD, the Agency would give a strong signal on how Africa can harness its development challenges under the umbrella of AU,” said Dr Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the NEPAD Agency.
NEPAD’s thematic and priority areas include Agriculture and Food Security, Regional Integration and Infrastructure, Climate Change and Natural Resources Management, Human Development, Economic and Corporate Governance and Cross Cutting Issues. Other priorities include institutional efforts aimed at results based management and performance and the roll out of key regional and continental and continental programmes in collaboration with the AU Commission.
