The current status of the world’s living aquatic resources varies but the number of fish stocks in trouble seems to exceed the number that is in a good or excellent state. The causes are many, but overfishing is a major one for which fisheries managers are often blamed. Its complexity, diversity and dynamics and the involvement of a large number of stakeholders, makes fisheries and aquaculture difficult to govern.
In this training course the participants will learn about fisheries governance and the relation with fisheries management approaches. The course will provide insights on challenges that fisheries governance face and explores ways to strengthen fisheries governance.
