African Peer Review Mechanism Overview

A key NEPAD activity is the African Peer Review Mechanism, which provides a structure for countries to share experiences and best practices. This pioneering process encourages nations to assess their own performance and develop their own indigenous responses based on input from neighbouring countries.

It aims to help countries develop and adopt laws and practices that will lead to political stability, economic growth, sustainable development and economic integration throughout the continent. As of June 2008, 29 states have signed up to the APRM .

Detailed information on the African Peer Review Mechanism (including a full list of the countries involved) is available from the official APRM website http://www.aprm-international.org
