A rise in temperature of about 2°C would result in a 10 per cent reduction in agricultural production in sub-Saharan Africa by 2050, and a greater rise could increase to 15 or 20 per cent.

The focus of the programme is to strengthen agriculture, bolster food and nutrition security, promote the blue economy, improve environmental governance, and promote sustainable mining at the national, regional and continental level. A key aim is to facilitate the adoption of climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies.
