Health sector should be at the forefront of efforts to advance women’s rights and equality as women not only bear the greatest disease burden but are also primary care givers.

This Policy Brief is a response to the theme of the 15th Ordinary Session of the Summit of the African Union, held in Kampala, Uganda. The title of the theme was, Maternal, Infant and Child Health and Development in Africa.

This document was developed to provide a broader overview on the NEPAD Education and Training sector activities, an Annual Report for 2009 based on the Projects / Activities, Progress and Future Prospects were compiled.

Education is a critical sector whose performance directly affects and even determines that quality and magnitude of Africa's development.
