  • Comoros has launched the CAADP implementation process and is now working towards signing the CAADP compact. CAADP is an acronym for the Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Programme and was endorsed by African Heads of State and Governments in Maputo, Mozambique in 2003. They agreed to commit at least 10% of their national budgets to agriculture and attain an average growth rate of 6% with the specific aim of reducing poverty and hunger.
  • Through the TerrAfrica Leveraging Fund (TLF), Comoros was able to integrate Sustainable Land and Water Management (SLWM) into its national environmental and agricultural frameworks through the development of SLM Country Strategic Investment Frameworks (CSIF). The country is now able to use the CSIF as a tool to pool and align stakeholders and resources, for activities such as the investment project implementation.
  • Comoros is involved in the Single African Sky programme, a continental programme launched in 2008 to create a high-level, satellite-based air navigation system for the African continent. The initiative will see the liberalisation of civil aviation in Africa which in-turn will enhance connectivity, and spur trade and tourism, and employment creation.
  • The country also received advocacy support, which contributed to strengthening of Negotiation Capacities of African countries on Post-2015 Development Agenda through the Common African Position (CAP). Subsequently, Africa’s development priorities were mirrored in the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
