Millennium Africa Recovery Plan (MAP) and Omega Plan for Africa combined to give birth to a third initiative the New African Initiative (NAI) which then led to the establishment of NEPAD in 2001. Founding Member States of NEPAD included South Africa, Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt and Senegal.
