NEPAD assisted the Islamic Republic of Mauritania with to support projects in capacity building programme for women organisations and capacity-building, advocacy and mobilisation for budget responsiveness.

The organisations that were assisted in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, are REPAO (Le Réseau sur les Politiques de Pêche en Afrique de l’Ouest) and AWOMI (African Women Millennium Initiative). In total, 6700 men and women were reached through the provision of grants to assist with women empowerment projects.
