11 July 2010, Midrand - The 40th Meeting of the NEPAD Steering Committee (SC) will be held in Pretoria from 16-17 July 2010. The SC meeting is being co-hosted by the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NEPAD Agency) and Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) in South Africa.

Being the first SC meeting since the landmark 14th AU Summit Decision on the establishment of the NEPAD Agency, the 40th SC session will discuss progress on the transition of the NEPAD Agency, with specific reference to the Agency’s strategic direction and the adoption of AU rules, regulations and practices for HR/Finance.

The meeting is expected to also consider the new NEPAD programmatic approach and delivery, as well as review Africa’s partnership engagements in view of the June 2010 G8/G20 Summits’ outcomes.

Overall, the 40th SC will assess preparations for the 23rd HSGOC and 15th AU Summits billed for Kampala, Uganda from 19-27 July 2010.
