Dr Mayaki meets with President Outtara of Côte D’ívoire

NEPAD CEO Dr Ibrahim Mayaki met with President Allassane Ouattara of Côte d'Ivoire on July 20-22 in Abidjan to brief him on the progress of NEPAD implementation in the country. The NEPAD Agency is involved in several programmes in Cote d’Ivoire, in particular in advancing the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) and the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).

On infrastructure, NEPAD has mobilised resources for feasibility studies of the Abidjan-Lagos Coastal Corridor and Abidjan-Ouagadougou-Bamako. Both Corridors have been ranked as top priorities for advancing infrastructure development and leading to a more integrated continent during the Dakar Financing Summit.

Through CAADP, Cote-d’Ivoire has mobilised in less than two years 37per cent of US4 billion dollars pledged by funding partners at a business meeting held in 2012.

Dr Mayaki committed NEPAD’s support to two initiatives: the creation of a Cocoa and Chocolate University and the creation of an Agriculture Commodity Exchange. Both initiatives will have a regional impact.
