Gender mainstreaming in the development agenda was the principal matter discussed when NEPAD CEO met with Head of UN Women Dr Phumzile Mlambo-Ncguka on the sidelines of the AU Summit in Addis Ababa.

It was noted that the NEPAD Agency and UN Women should work together to produce accurate data on the role of women in agriculture. They agreed on synergized efforts to uplift the status of women.

The two Agencies will host a joint session at The UN Women headquarters in New York in February, to be followed by a visit to the NEPAD Agency by Dr Mlambo-Ngcuka in March
