Mrs Estherine Fotabong gets top honour from Ethiopian Government

NEPAD’s Director of Programme Implementation and Coordination Mrs Estherine Fotabong, has been awarded an honour of Recognition and Excellence by the Ministry of Women, Children and Youth Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

The prestigious award is in recognition of her passion, dedication and leadership towards advancing equality and empowerment of African Women.

Receiving the award, Mrs Fotabong expressed appreciation to the Government of Ethiopia, particularly the Ministry of Women, Children and Youth Affairs. She dedicated her award to the millions of African women who work extremely hard to make the continent a better place for its people.

Estherine is in Addis Ababa for a three day Consultative Programming Workshop for the NEPAD Gender Climate Change Agriculture Support Programme. 

The workshop, organised by NEPAD and the Ethiopia’s Ministry of Women, Children and Youth Affairs with support from the Norwegian Agency for Development(NORAD),  is aimed at strengthening efforts in fighting climate change through the Climate Change Agriculture Support Programme.

The Programme is currently in an inception phase. It will fully take off in 2015 and  will be implemented in five African countries -Rwanda, Niger, Malawi, Ethiopia and Cameroon.  It will support small-holder women farmers to address the challenges posed by climate change in the agricultural sector.
