NEPAD at the 24th AU Summit

African heads of state and government and hundreds of delegates from across the world will converge on Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa next week for the 24th African Union (AU) Summit. The theme of the Summit is: “Year of Women’s Empowerment and Development towards Africa’s Agenda 2063”.

NEPAD CEO Dr Ibrahim Mayaki will hold a number of strategic engagements during and on the margins of the Summit.

Deliberations will focus on progress made in empowering African women, the key role the NEPAD Agency is playing in Agenda 2063, outcomes of the Dakar Financing Summit, and decisions made at the Malabo Summit in June 2014, amongst Africa’s most pressing issues.

Dr Mayaki, who is Interim CEO of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), will also take a lead role in all APRM engagements.

The CEO and a preparatory team are already on the ground in Addis Ababa, setting the tone through meetings and logistics arrangements.
