NEPAD CEO meets with President of Madagascar on sidelines of AU Summit

Kigali - On the margins of the African Union Summit, the CEO of the NEPAD Agency, Dr. Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, held a bilateral discussion with the President of Madagascar, H.E. Mr. Hery Rajaonarimampianina.

The discussions focussed on reinforcing the interventions that NEPAD is making in Madagascar, with a specific focus on agribusiness and energy.

The CEO highlighted the specific areas that the NEPAD Agency in particular can contribute, in terms of expertise in the areas of energy, transport and agriculture. Dr. Mayaki specifically expanded on the role that Grow Africa can play in the development of projects in agribusiness, and underscored the readiness of the NPCA to intervene where requested.

In response, the President of Madagascar thanked the CEO for his proposals, and outlined the progress that Madagascar is making in several sectors, including the different agriculture and agribusiness projects in various regions of the country. The President also noted the necessity for further expertise and studies in the area of energy and welcomed the initiative by the NEPAD Agency in this regard. President Rajaonarimampianina also noted the need for further collaboration as well in the broader area of infrastructure.

The CEO has therefore committed the NEPAD Agency to send a mission to Madagascar to follow-up on the proposals made.
