On the occasion of the Nelson Mandela International Day, the NEPAD Agency joins the rest of the world in commemorating this day and to honour a great statesman. As we celebrate this initiative, we ought to be reminded of his extraordinary life from which we can draw a lot of inspiration.

In recognition of this Day, it is befitting for the NEPAD Agency to reflect on the values for which he fought throughout and stood by all his life.

The message behind Mandela International Day is simple – each individual has the ability and the responsibility to change the world for the better.

July 18, the late Nelson Mandela Birthday is more than a celebration of Madiba’s life and legacy, it is a global movement to honour his life’s work and act to change the world for the better

This year will mark the first time, the day has been celebrated without him. As we still mourn his passing, we are cheered by the many values and wisdom which he shared with us amidst the sacrifices that he and his family endured.
