NEPAD Kenya on visit to South Africa

Midrand, May 26 – A delegation from the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) offices in Kenya is in South Africa for a series of engagements concerning the implementation of the NEPAD programme and related joint work programmes.

Yesterday, the delegation which is led by Dr Grace Ongile, Chief Executive Officer of the NEPAD Kenya country office met with the Acting CEO of the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NEPAD Agency) Mrs. Estherine Fotabong who briefed the team about the NEPAD Agency change process that has taken place following the 14th AU Assembly decision on the integration of NEPAD into the African Union.

The series of meetings being held between the delegation from Kenya and the NEPAD Agency are expected to help the Kenyan team to review their legal and institutional frameworks and to re-align their strategy so that they can execute their mandate more effectively and efficiently, in relation to the core mandate and functions of the NEPAD Agency.

While the Kenyan team is in South Africa from May 23-28, 2010, they will also consult with DBSA, APRM and other stakeholders with direct links to NEPAD implementation process.
