“In order for staff to perform their tasks optimally, on-the-job training needs to be prioritised and encouraged by the HR Division and NEPAD Management. Staff should have full knowledge and understanding of their roles and responsibilities” said Rose Ngenue.

Staff also highlighted the need to improve the performance evaluation process to ensure accountability and staff development. Other issues discussed ranged from staff retention, secondments, Office space and AU rules and regulations vs NEPAD rules and regulations.

NEPAD CEO Dr Mayaki said that the HR process will lay the foundation for the positive image that NEPAD will have even 20 years from now. “Input from staff on the strategy will help shape NEPAD’s identity both internally and externally,” said Dr Mayaki.
