NEPAD participates in the Committee on World Food Security in Rome

The Committee on World Food Security (CSF) held its 42nd session at the FAO headquarters from October 12 to 15, 2015. The session was attended by participants from members of the committee, Ministers, non-members states of the committee and representatives from UN agencies, civil society organizations, international agriculture research, international financial agencies, private sectors and observers.   The CFS represents the most inclusive international and intergovernmental platform for all stakeholders to work together to ensure food security and nutrition for all.

A side event on ‘Revisiting Capacity Development for greater Impact on Food Nutrition and Security’ was jointly organized by the NPCA (Agricultural Education and Training coordinator,  Hamidou Boly and the Food Security and Nutrition head, Isatou Jallow),  the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP), European Union (EU), Government of France and FAO. The side event which took place on October 13th was attended by over a hundred participants.

Mr Haladou Salha, NPCA representative in Rome, delivered a statement on behalf of the NPCA CEO on the theme ‘Improved Agricultural Education and training to end hunger and achieve AU/Malabo Declaration on Agriculture-led development in Africa’. He highlighted the CAADP Results Framework, Malabo decisions and its Program of Work in particular the need to strengthen systemic capacity to deliver results.  He further noted the NPCA Agricultural Education and Skills Improvement Framework (AESIF) aswell as current efforts in establishing a Food Security and Nutrition Knowledge Management Platform (web link for presentations).
